About Warren M.

Hi, I’m Warren McDonald. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my house was always filled with sound—everything from the timeless beauty of Debussy, Ravel, and Bach to the heart and soul of folk, country, pop, and rock. My love for music started early, thanks to my parents. My mom played piano when she was younger, and my dad, a guitar enthusiast, sparked my fascination with the instrument.

By junior high, I was performing in bands, and that passion carried me through high school and college. Along the way, I had the privilege of studying under incredible mentors like Frank Kimlicko and Enric Madriguera. One of the highlights of my journey was traveling to Spain and Italy to take master classes with guitar legends José Tomás and Alirio Díaz—experiences that shaped not only my musicianship but also my approach to teaching and learning.

I earned my Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Texas and also trained in the Suzuki Guitar Method at the Inter-Mountain Suzuki Institute in Park City, Utah.

As a teacher, I love working with students of all levels, whether they’re picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to refine their skills. I teach both piano and guitar, covering everything from music reading, theory, and repertoire to playing by ear, chord theory, and improvisation. My lessons aren’t one-size-fits-all—I tailor them to each student’s goals and interests, whether that’s classical, pop, rock, blues, jazz, or acoustic folk.

At the end of the day, my biggest goal is to help you find joy in making music—whatever style excites you the most. Whether you want to strum your favorite songs, dive into music theory, or explore improvisation, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Let’s make some music together!
