Hi, I’m Warren McDonald, and I’ve been passionate about music for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a home filled with music, from composers such as Debussy, Ravel and Bach to folk, country, pop and rock music. I was inspired early on by my parents’ love for music. My mother, learned piano as a young person, and my father, a guitar enthusiast, helped inspire the foundation of my musical journey.
I’ve been performing since my junior high days, playing in bands throughout high school and college. During my formal music studies, I had the privilege of learning from amazing mentors like Frank Kimlicko and Enric Madriguera. These experiences taught me not only how to practice and perform but also valuable life lessons in integrity and professionalism. Highlights of my training include traveling to Spain and Italy, where I participated in master classes with guitar virtuosos José Tomás and Alirio Díaz.
I earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Texas and am trained in the Suzuki Guitar Method from the Inter-Mountain Suzuki Institute in Park City, Utah.
As a teacher, I’ve been fortunate to work in various settings, from private studios to group classes. I specialize in teaching both piano and guitar, focusing on traditional subjects like music reading, theory, and repertoire, as well as playing by ear, chord theory, and improvisation. I love exploring a variety of genres with my students, including classical, pop, rock, blues, jazz, and acoustic folk.
Whether you’re just starting out or refining your craft, I’m here to guide and inspire you on your musical journey. My goal is to help you discover the joy of music, no matter the style or genre that excites you most.
